About location:
'Faro is the political and administrative capital of the Algarve region in southern Portugal.
Of pre-Roman origin, Faro was known as Ossónoba and was one of the most important urban centers in the southern region, having continued to develop after the Roman occupation, during the conquest of the Moors.
The Village Arch, neoclassical monument based on one of the doors of the original Moorish walls, which includes the patron saint of the city - São Tomás de Aquino, marks the entrance to Vila Adentro, the oldest housing nucleus of the city, where we are faced with narrow streets of whitewashed houses that recall the Moorish heritage and that lead to historical spaces of high architectural and cultural interest of which are examples of the See of Faro and the Municipal Museum.
The municipality of Faro has most of the administrative services in the region. Here we also find the central hospital, university, several schools and Airport, the latter being decisive for the tourist development of the entire Algarve region.'
Faro also offers us an attractive marina, several squares and well-maintained gardens.
It is bounded to the south by the Ria Formosa, a true sanctuary of nature, which houses several protected species and offers bathing refuges with large expanses of fine sand and clear and calm waters.'
